Bitcoin - The Currency of the Internet

A community dedicated to Bitcoin, the currency of the Internet. Bitcoin is a distributed, worldwide, decentralized digital money. Bitcoins are issued and managed without any central authority whatsoever: there is no government, company, or bank in charge of Bitcoin. You might be interested in Bitcoin if you like cryptography, distributed peer-to-peer systems, or economics. A large percentage of Bitcoin enthusiasts are libertarians, though people of all political philosophies are welcome.

"Help me get a Bitcoin Cash ad on the Istanbul Highway"

submitted by georgiobtc to btc [link] [comments]

The things going for Bitcoin are the toxic harassment tactics, ad hominem, online bullying and abuse, intimidation tactics, and dwindling network effects. I am not interested in such people and such toxic behaviors. Being in Bitcoin Cash, I advocate it with a clear conscience based on its merits.

"I rallied around BCH and then promptly got abused, treated to the Twitter mobs. That was a terrible period, actually. I didn't like it because, I mean, I've always been a champion of privatized currencies, whatever form they take. I don't even care what you call it. As long as it's out of the hands of government. So to be accused of, yet again, of being part of a pump & dump scheme, a scamster, of all these things, you know, I was subject to harassment, intimidation. It was horrible. And actually, at the time, people had warned me that if I showed any sympathy for the fork at all, that I would be subjected to this. But it was far worse than I really imagined. And nobody wants to live that way. It's disgusting. Now, as far as I know, these days — and maybe I'm not that active or maybe I've just blocked all the right people — but it doesn't seem like the abuse is continuing as much." — Jeffrey Tucker

recently added bitcoin as a payment option to my shop via coinbase. is this what most people use?

Recently added bitcoin as an accepted form of payment on my bookshop via coinbase. The other options are gocoin and bitpay. Don't really want to have three different options as I'd rather manage a single login and not have to pay fees to transfer between various wallets. Would you say coinbase is the most widely used of the three?

Adblock does not appear to be working. Blacklisted domains still show up

I'm attempting to use the manual blacklist option inside of Adblock to block some items from my phone (specifically ads but a few other things like facebook, etc)
I have the domains in my blacklist and the service shows as running but I never see any of those domains show up in the DNS report as blocked.
As a test I open a news app, update it, and then check the dns report and pakon and I still see these domains being connected to from my phone
Here is the output from /etc/init.d/adblock status_service
::: adblock runtime information + adblock_status : enabled + adblock_version : 4.0.6 + blocked_domains : 104655 + active_sources : adaway adguard andryou anti_ad bitcoin disconnect spam404 wally3k whocares winhelp winspy youtube yoyo + dns_backend : dnsmasq, /tmp/dnsmasq.d + run_utils : /bin/uclient-fetch, /bin/awk + run_ifaces : trigger: lan, report: br-lan + run_directories : base: /tmp, backup: /tmp, report: /tmp, jail: /tmp + run_flags : backup: 1, reset: 0, flush: 0, force: 0, search: 0, report: 1, mail: 0, jail: 0 + last_run : start, 0m 10s, 2067/1701/1691, 10.07.2020 15:14:27 + system : Turris Omnia, TurrisOS 5.0.3 73e0ea1ea964f27097ff4009b5d55f31a40d2932
Is there anything else I can do to try to troubleshoot why the blacklisted items still show up in Pakon as being made connections to from my phone? Phone is on my wifi which should be part of br-lan
EDIT: I came across this posting: https://forum.turris.cz/t/adblock-troubleshooting/13195/17 and then switched my DNS backend to kresd since it seems like that's the default currently. Not sure how to check what it should be there but I've seen a few more blocks show up in the DNS report since then. I'll continue to run this config and see how it goes but if anyone else has any feedback please let me know
